Farmtrac Closes Their Doors!

Everyone has been laid off and their offices are closed in Tarboro, NC. LG/Montana, earlier this month, looked at purchasing Farmtrac as a way to collect some debts owed to them. It did not happen. From what has been reported, Farmtrac's parent company in India said the will make a decision in 2 weeks on liquidation or sale of the business. If LG didn't want it then their may be a fire sale. Trans-America owns most of the paper on the tractors. Look for the dealers to call T/A and tell them to come pick up the tractors. Farmtrac is a sales company and their parent company may just walk away leaving a mess for T/A to clean up. Owners of Farmtrac tractors will not be happy at this news.
There has been no public announcement and their website is still up an running but they are for sure closed and a no-show in their space at the Southern Farm Show in Raleigh, NC.

The Farmtrac is NOT a FORD It is a LONG in Ford clothing. Longs were famous in this part of the country cause you could track them by their oil leaks.

Don't count them out yet. LG and Montana have a say in Farmtrac. In the end they may get bigger. Montana tried to take over farmtrac a couple of times. If they do, the Co. will be the 3rd largest tractor co. in the US. This is being hashed out across the big pond. LG is huge and will have a big say in what happens. Think bigger.

I have no idea because I've never seen one. They're not sold in my area. With Montana having some shares in Farmtrac they don't seem to compete in the same areas by agreement. In the compact line the Farmtrac and Montana use the same engines by LG and are very similar. Montana has 3 models that was sold by Long that were revamped. Farmtrac started putting those 3 on the lots and stopped and that's when Montana got them.

Everything I've read is that they owe money to a lot of suppliers that have not been paid since July. Too bad, they were not too bad a tractor.

That is rather sad, rather like watching the Titanic sink. Watching what little of the old Ford X600 series slip into history. I know the 545 mfd I looked at had the old Ford casting numbers on the 3 pt lift cover and rear axle trumpets.

specifically talked to an employee of Farmtrac and 3 people that live in the Tarboro area. The only people there are volunteers. They are closed. If their parent company decides to infuse some more capital into them, then they may go on but they are not in a desired financial position.
Anyone on the phone can say anything and realize that calls are forwarded all the time.

Granted I likely misstated T/A in stead of GE but they are closed. I've also talked to some of their largest dealers and they are very concerned over Farmtrac's solvency.

Farmtrack has 5000 tractors to sell at fire sale prices unless John Deere India steps in and takes over.

Unfortunate situation. I almost bought a new 435 last year, but the fact that the dealer was almost three hours away, and the only one in my state, discouraged me. They look like a good, basic tractor for reasonable money, and I like the fact they seem to be based, at least some of the models, on the Ford tractors of the 60's and 70's.

To follow-up on this, I called the only Farmtrac dealer in Minnesota yesterday. The person I talked to had not heard anything about the apparent difficulties of the company, and were selling tractors as usual.
