I saw an auction coming up with a JD 375 round baler. What are the things good or bad about these balers and how much do they bring at auction? What size bale will it make? Thanks in advance for any replys.

I have a 375 and I am very satisfied with it. The 375 makes a 4" diameter bale not a problem for my needs but, not as large or heavy as the bigger balers. I have sold some hay to smaller horse/cattle operations and they liked the size because they could handle them with their smaller tractors. There is not autowrap or net wrap available, at least that I have found. The baler works well however it is a little tricky on starting a bale in some situations ( slick/dry hay). I pull it behind a 70 pto hp tractor and in thick hay it makes it grunt a little but, I have never had a problem. I find that it easy to make uniform bales and it will handle large winrows without problems. The bale ramps on mine work well but, we are pretty flat in my part of Tx so don"t know how well they would work in hilly conditions. I paid $6500 for my baler 3 years ago and have ~ 1500 through it and 1 have replaced 1 belt and the lacing on 2 belts, so for my use it has been trouble free and relatively cheap to operate. I replaced a NH 851 chain baler with the 375 and spend a lot less time on maintenance/repair, the NH was a maintenance magnet and a bit more baler than my 70hp wanted.

They may be a wierd size bale but they sure stack in a shed nice.If one sold for $2500 I sure wish I had been there .If its in good shape it should bring $6000.00 to $8000.00 .Look them up on machinefinder.com which is a JD dealer site

One sold at an auction last fall by us. Looked good but only brought $2500.

I think they don't bring much because of the weird sized bale. everybody wants a 4 foot wide bale or else they go to the real big 5x6 bales.

Ya there a good baler, my uncle has one and he loves it. I think they make about a 1,000 pound bale. Great size for low horse power tractors.

The 375 is a good baler. The negative is it is 4' high and 5' wide. The JD-385 replaced that baler. The 385 bales a bale 5'tall and 4'wide. Most smaller operators like 4' wide bales because they can transport 4'wide bales side by side down the highway. 10' wide trailered loads cause problems going down two lane roads. If the JD375 baler is in good condition it should be worth $4,000-6,000.
