I'm in the upper Midwest, and looking for an IH #56 two-row hydraulic-life planter to use. Can someone give me an idea of what these units bring in price? They are almost non-existant in the area where I live, so I have no idea if their value is about that of four and six-row 56 and 58 plate planters, or if it is somewhat higher.

Thanks for the replies. To clarify, I meant a trailing-type planter using a remote hydraulic cylinder to raise and lower the unit, as opposed to a clutch-type manual lift as on the older two-row planters. When I ran a wanted ad last year trying to find one of these locally, I would get replies for older 2-rows that were not #56 models. I believe the 56's were the only two-rows available with hyd. cylinder lift? The farmplace we own has about an acre and a half of bare land that I like to plant to field corn and sweet corn every other year, hence my interest in finding a two-row for such a small field as opposed to a larger planter.

My neighbor (retired- about 80 acre farm) has a very nice IH 2-row that he advertised last spring, but I don't think he sold it. Not sure if it's hyd. lift or clutch type. I'll ask next time I see him.

2 row planters, maybe $500 or so, maybe more, not too many small IH units out there. By hydraulic lift, do you mean 3 pt hitch or a 2 row trailer unit with a hydraulic cylinder lift? That would be unusual.

Haven't seen any plate type 6-rows around here, but 4-rows usually end up in the $100-400 range, while a working 2-row almost always brings $400-600, sometimes more. Seems to be mostly due demand for wildlife food plots.
