Vermeer Rebel 5410 vs 5400

Don't for get to check out the Vermeer Rebates.

I can see the rolls on my 5400 good up to about 4' diameter, after that it is pretty much a guess. I'm not sure what system of side to side monitoring is on the 5410, it may just be in the accu-bale system.

What kind of prices are they quoting on the new 5410's?

Thanks for your input. It sounds like I should stick with the 5410, but as a small part-time farmer, it's hard to justify that price.

10,000 bales is nothing on a 504I baler. The pickup should go 40,000-50,000 bales before you might need to change out some cam bushings. We have customers that baled 4000-6000 bales a year for 10 years before they traded them back for a later model.

If you are going to buy new, check out the JD 458 standard baler. I know it has the bale forming indicators on it. It also has the audible alarms on it. They list for around $16900, so a good dealer might match or even beat your quote that you got on the 5410. The only drawback I see is that the deere has hydraulic twine tie, which isn't a big deal as long as you have two sets of valves on your tractor.
