Looking for a WOODS Cornpicker, single row pull-type that we used many years ago.It was pulled behind Grand dad's old 70 Cockshutt followed by an old wooden wagon with 1928 Buick wheels on it.It really beat hand picking. Red

That was the first picker dad had. grey with red lettering WOODS BROS. It was better than hand picking as was stated, but you still had to open 3 rows at each end of the field if there was a fence on each end, plus a couple in the field itself if it was over 10 acres or so. Dad didnt allow shucks to go into the wagon, made it easier to shell with the hand sheller, so my brother and me rode the wagon getting rid of the shucks. Dad had trouble with the cross elevator getting corn hung under the chain. I would think he needed to tighten it. Dont know if he did, He got someone to cut him a2 pieces of 2 X 2 and he put them on each side above the chain and that helped alot. But it was better when he got rid of it and bought a #24 IHC 2 row mounted.

You're specifying a Woods picker for nostalgia? Back in the 50's we had one. Kind of fun with the husking rolls sending the ears up front to the wagon elevator, more in sight than other pickers. Wouldn't it be fun to change the snapping rolls to stripper bars so it could handle 200 bu. corn at a good speed?
