..if you mount the side dresser on the back won't it be just dropping the fertilizer($$) on the ground? Much better to incorporate with the shovel of the front cultivators. Also, doesn't Cole make some 'univeral' type side dressers? Anyway, hope it works out!

no they make an actual 3 point sidedresser, the one i seen on here before is exactly what i am looking for ,there is a guy here were i live that has one but i havnt been able to run him down in the last few days to get the name of it ,the one he has you can run pretty fast through the tobacco with it once it gets up just alittle below your knees,i will have about 60 more or less acres to get through{probably less as it is getting harder hell to get anything leased}everytghing around here is owned by horse farms, developers or old people all in whitch have got plenty of money and would just soon the land set there as to be bothered with anybody or afraid somebody might make a dollar, alot of you guys know what i mean

Mines a fert unit off a Ford 309 planter, mounted to a set of Ford 2 row cultivators, driven by a finned cast iron wheel. Used to get the finned drive wheels at any tractor dealer, not now I'm afraid. If ya want pics, email me.

Sounds like a bang up idea. I would be concerned about soil compaction with that sized Deere if ya don"t have any cultivators with it. A Farmall C/Super C, 200, etc would be a real candidate because they can be used with a two row cult. and sidedressers, and they have better crop clearance. When we raised burley(15-20 acres) we only had the one row stuff, couldn"t break old habits;-)

we have a set of 4 row front mounted cultivators that we have cut down to 2 row for the 3020 that also has a rollbar and canopy and as long as we put the 15.5x38 on the back we have plenty of room between the 40inch rows, the only problem we have is it handles so mutch better than the ol farmalls you cant hardly stay awake when your plowing the first time around when the tobacco is small

I made one out of a planter. Used the planter opener, show, gauge wheels, and closing disks. Added liquid fertilizer tank and a squeeze pump. Used the planter transmission to set the flow rate.
