Hi, Can anyone tell me if parts are still available for these plows, from dealer, salavage yard, or elsewhere. I am rebuilding a 2 bottom 14 right now. Thanks for any help Leo

The IH dealer in my area still has the paper parts books for the No. 8 plow, so they look up parts that way. If you can find a dealer that still has these, that would be the best way to ensure you are getting the right stuff.

I want to Thank everybody that replied to my request. You provided some very useful info for my rebuild. Scott do you have a complete plow, I need a step collar for the rear wheel and a handle for the furrow lever and the spring for the furrow side and the hitch. I am early in the tear down process and might need more things later. Thanks again Leo

What Crescent will need is the numbers off the back of your old shares & moldboards . They are a manufacture & they don't know what fits a number 8, example for the 14 in.Conventional Share they list 3 numbers on shares 0554,0560 & 0674. Let me know if you need more help.I am hoping some of the IHC collecters could break it down of what is different of those 3 numbers. Earl In Illinois

Leo,
Go to "www.Crescentforge.com". They still make parts for plows, including IH #8.

I work at a Case IH dealer and have restored several of these plows. I have not been able to get very many parts from CNH. The #8 plow is not on the parts program. The latch handels on the adjuster arms are still available, but you have to look them up under a #70 plow. If you have Super Chief moldboards with the 1 piece share parts are not available. You can some parts for the Plow Chief bottoms with the replaceable point on the share but it is listed as a one of the Super Chief X Series bottoms. If you just want a plow to use and are not obsessed with it being entirerly original the 14 inch bottoms on the IH 540,550,and 560 plows will fit. These plows can be bought for scrap price and parts are available.

Hi, I need the step collars in the hubs and the handle for the lever that adjust the pitch of the plow. I also need a spring but we have a spring shop in town that I am going to try. Everything else I can fab. Those two pieces seem to be cast iron. Thanks Leo

Hi Leo , I don't know if you'll read this far back but I'll give you a hint anyway . If the step collars are just broke in half like all mine where go ahead and reuse them . Shim the wheel box so it doesn't have much if any sideplay ( they must still turn freely ! ) by using the step that's located midway between where it's broken and you'll be good to go . If the collar is on the rear axle what I did was just drilled the pin hole out and got a thicker pin to hold everything tight . If the collars are broken in more than one spot this clearly won't work . Clear as mud ? Good luck ! ...Randy

Depends on which parts, and which bottoms are on it. Some are available new from IH and other places as well.
