Can someone please help me ID the model on this IH drill? The green paint was added recently, it was IH red with blue on the boots and frame underneath the boxes.

If anyone also knows where some parts might be that would be helpful too. Thanks.

I have scoured the net, and can't find a single drill that looks just like that one.

Thanks for all the help. I bought this locally in Northern Colorado, this is the second one I have seen set up the same except this one has press wheels, the first one I saw had drag chains. The first one was in better shape but it did not have any better ID on it. I missed out on buying that one.

I too have scoured the net. All the parts have IHC cast on them, it appears it started life with the boxes red, single disk openers and press wheels white or close to white, seed boots and lower frame pieces blue. Inside the main box there is part of a sticker left on the lid that has the IH logo in the corners and says McCormick on it. It"s hardly readable but it looks like following McCormick is the number 6 and fertilizer. I don"t even get a single search engine hit on a McCormick 6 drill or seeder, anyone else know of one? It has some fertilizer and settings on whats left of the sticker.

I"ll keep searching and please, throw ideas and thoughts at me if you have them. It also has a nice acre meter on the right side if that is any help.

Chris, I found a pi in one of my books of a IH drill that does look like that one except it doesn't have the grass box on the back. The worse thing is it only says the pic is from 1949, and doesn't give a model for it. It is being pulled with a M. I will look through some more of these books to see what I find.

George--thanks for all your help on this. What book did you find the picture in?

It does not look like a McCormick MF grain drill.

Does not even look like a IHC drill.

Maybe a Massey Ferguson ?

Sammy, I believe you are right. After looking at my MF, the boxes look different as well as the lack of the big cast gear on this end. Not sure if it is a Massey or not, but I don't think it is a IH MF model.

I have no idea what model it could be but I do know it is NOT a IHC MF drill, I have a MF setting here in the yard now and before we got the JD FB had a IHC MF for years. There is nuthing on your drill that looks like a MF

Thanks. Does the MF look the same as an M, just an extra box?

Looks like my McCormick MF double run drill. Except mine is operated by rope trips and not hydraulics.

Thanks. The hydraulics look like they were more than likely added, or modified at least. Does yours have three boxes and is the main box the furthest forward?

They were available with hydraulic lift. Best I remember the front box is for grain, the next one is for fertilizer, and the small one at the very back is a grass seed attachment. They are good drills. I haven't used mine in quite a while, but they work very well.

Thanks for the help on this one, I haven't been able to find any close-up pictures of anything like it, especially ones with the auxillary boxes mounted behind the main box. Mine looks pretty decent, the back box has been wrecked and the drill needs either a little work on the seed boots or to replace them but everything functions well.

Owners manuals for M and MF model drills are for sale quite often on ebay. Google grain drills and see what you find. I got a manual for mine while back for 6 dollars + shipping.
