HI all, What size disk would be best suited for allis chalmers 190xt. Would like the biggest it will handle without overworking tractor. thanks in advance

16 ft should be no problem.I used to pull a 16 ft 470 IH with a 200 AC with duals.

Anywhere from 12-16 feet. If you're running duals traction shouldnt be a problem. If it starts getting hot, drop down a gear. I nomrally pull a 12 foot with a nominal 86 hp. On the ones that dont have the pumps juiced up they do fine all day long. On the tractor with 14,000 hours and the pump turned up 2 full turns it wants to get hot pulling the same disc in the same ground.

I pulled a 15' MF disk with bar harrow with a 706 ger. No duals so at times I had a traction problem. 4low at about 4.75mph.

I pulled a AC 12" wheel disc with my 190,My neighbor had a 190 XT Diesel and pulled a Kewanee 13'6" wheel disc.We both had duals so we were comparable that way but that 190 XT was way more powerful than my plain 190 gas.

thanks all, I will be using for spring tillage, I chisel plowed in fall. Loking to get seed bed ready for planting corn. I will be using duals also. Any recomendations on a chisel plow for fall tillage in stalks. that will be next purchase after disk. About 50 acres for now hopefully more in future. Thanks again

All depends on what you are going to disc.

I have a 15' disc that will just absolutely work the snot out of an 80 horse tractor if used in loose ground.

Pulls it handedly for normal "discing". Your XT ought to be a nice match for an 18 footer in stalks or the like.

An uncle of mine had a 190XT way back when. He pulled a 16' Kewannee disc. That was with duals

The XT should crank 93 pto hp. JD 4020 is 94-96? Would typically pull an 18 foot here on heavy clay soils, but mine was a JD 210 with the cone blades,so a 14 foot was a good match for the 4020 in the 70s. Most disks are concave, not cone blades. My 3020 would not pull the 210 decently in plowed ground. I think they were 20 inch blades. Spacing makes a difference too- wider spacing means fewer blades, and blades turn the soil-more blades take more hp. And always, dual wheels. Sixteen foot of any spacing or common diameter might be a good match for your 190XT for any tandem disk. If you"re talking an offset plowing disk with 26 inch blades that is heavy enough to cut 8-10 inches in standing cornstalks, then you"re down to an 8 foot machine. Friend of mine pulls an 8 foot Bushhog plowing disk in North Central MN, light ground, with his XT. I bought a 14 footer from paul"s neighborhood a few years ago, and it"s a good match for a MFWD that cranks 190hp.

How many hp is that?

Are you looking to pull in fall on hard ground? Or in spring in loose soft ground?

Are you looking for a light finishing disk, or an aggressive primary tillage disk?

My 85 hp tractor will toy with a 20 foot light disk in fall, but a heavy tillage 12 foot disk would be a hard pull for my 135hp tractor....
