I bought a John Deere hammermill with hay chute on e-bay for $240.00. It works well. I replaced electric motor with wisconsin engine. Bought 90 degree reduction gearbox off internet from surpluscenter.com.

I bought a case hammer mill off ebay about a year ago for 60 bucks. It is in real good shape witha spare screen, but was missing the cyclone. A friend had a spare cyclone for me. The only problem is it's driven by a 3 phase electric motor. I'd like to convert it to pto.

I bought a good one at a consignment sale two years ago for 30 bucks. I gave it to a Case buddy, and he has used it ever since.

I've never owned a Case and don't know their models. I have two Ward's Grainbuster hammer mills. I bought the 14" PTO driven mill with conveyor feed that is also mounted on a factory cart and I paid $200 for it last spring. This fall, I bought a smaller 8" Ward's mill.....I think it is a J model and I gave $75 for it and also got the old humongous electric motor with it. The decals are long gone from both of mine, but the bearings and sheet metal are perfect. The hammers have never been flipped in either of them and they are perfect too. So...I paid what the owners asked for them and felt I got my money's worth. Based on the two I have bought, I'd think $500 a bit much. I walked away from a Case mill for $300...I didn't need it. You may feel differently though.
