Disk bearing houseing- dual bearing Oliver

I just picked up an old 16 disk oliver Harrow that has a busted bearing housing. The bearing housing is made to house two bearings and span the space between the disk to keep trash out. This thing has four top bolts and a grease zert top center. It is aprox 4 1/2" od x 7 in long and has a slit seam running horizontal. What is it called? Dual billow block? I can find the bearings but not the cast housing.

Rick is correct. I started working for an Oliver dealer in 1960 and all the disks we had had sealed bearings. I know another dealer that maybe by luck will have one. When I started the current model disks were the 240 series. I take it this is not a wheel disk. Just though of it my neighbor has an old Oliver disk like that but not as wide. His dated from the 1940's when his dad started to farm.

I took the disk by an old tracor and impliment shop and when they looked at it they found "H" part numbres on the cast disk end piece and disk spacer spools that indicate it may be Harvister. How do I post pics?

What you need is an old Oliver dealer with some old stock. I'd call Maibachs 800 808 9934 or the dealer that I deal with Hofferbert Sales 989 862 5300

I've heard 'em called "grey iron bearings", and also referred to as a "boxing". Not sure what Oliver called 'em.

Some confusion on my part. I misread and didn't see where you mentioned the bearings being INSIDE this casting. Grey iron bearings have no further bearings beyond the casting itself.

I am assuming there is a bearing inside. I can see a disk thru the hole in the casing that would act like a thrust plate but I have not taken it apart. An iron pillow block full of grease would work without the bearings. I guess I need to tear one apart. I could fabricate a simple bearing.

Now we're gettin' somewhere! Good chance you've got a plain ol' cast iron boxing. The spool (disc spacer) will mate up with the boxing. They rely on a good fill of grease and no roller bearings. They can tolerate more wear than a roller bearing without needing to be replaced. The bulk of older disc's used this sort of arraingment. Some generic replacement boxings will work. You MIGHT have to get both halves as well as a new spool that matches the new boxing. Try AGCO dealer to see if a direct replacement is available.
