I am looking to buy a JD 375 Round Baler at a local dealer. They are asking 6000.00 for it. Are there common problems I should look for? He said a roller has been replaced (don"t know which one). Also the belts need to be re-laced and are somewhat worn. They said they have some life left in the belts. Is a 375 considered to be a good baler. What problems would worn belts cause? Does this seem like a decent price.

I"ve got a Vermeer 504C and have been able to bale with it, when the hay is right. Would like to upgrade to an open throat baler. I"ve used the 504C for 2 years now. Still a newbie.

Thanks,

Ken

Thanks for the information. I'm going to a consignment auction next weekend. They have several 4X4 and 4X5 round balers. I have used this sight to do research on all the models they listed. The site is a great wealth of information that is just hard to find anywhere else.

Thanks,

Ken

The JD375 is a good baler and a definite upgrade from your Vermeer C baler. The problem with the baler is the bale size, 5' wide and 4' baler. Most customers want a smaller baler 5' tall and 4' wide because they can haul their bales side by side easier down the road. JD did not sell many of the 375 round baler and quickly replaced it with a 385 round baler, 5'tall and 4' wide. The 375 baler uses 8 belts that cost $1380 total at CCM. $6000 seems high for that baler.

The diamond tread belts have three steps in them when new. If they are down to the last step they need to be replaced or you will have trouble starting a bale.
