Back in those days they were planted by hand here.Bag of seed slung over your shoulder and you cut 'em with a knife and dropped them in the drill every so far apart.

I have two of the Iron Age planters. A friend of mine located me a copy of an ad for Iron Age. The ad has an illustration of the planter that states 'The "Iron Age" wheel hoes. Tubular frame, Malleable Castings. High steel wheels. Light Running and Excel all others. Write.... Bateman Mfg. Co. Box G. Grenloch N.J. Mention "Farm Implement News Buyer's Guide" when writing to manufacturers.' I do not know the year this ad was published or what publication it was inserted in. Hope this helps some
