What is the simple way to time baler plunger to knotters?

The baler is a 310. I really thought they might all time about the same way and did not want to buy a manual if I did not have to, thanks Elton.

I'm pretty sure that there's people here that know far more about those balers than I ever will, and I'm pretty sure than most of them make extensive use of the manual. You can't commit everything to memory.
The day that a knotter decides to bugger up on you in the field, and yo don't know exactly what's wrong.... the book is nice then. You might get the answers here, in time... after the hay gets wet. It makes a 20 dollar book look awful cheap then.

I'll be honest and tell you that there are a lot of operators manuals that I don't bother with, but the baler manual is one that I do keep, and one that I actually replaced because the old one got destroyed from life IN the baler twine box.
It's s reference that's made available for a good reason.

Clean and lube bale plunger and chamber real good so it turns freely by hand and then start moving one chain link at a time until you get it. Takes a little time but what better way to spend a winter day. I timed mine by trial and error and last year. baled a stretch of 3241 bales without a loose one.

As Rod syas. It would take use a lot of space to explain how to do it here. I know in the JD manual for the 14T its takes 4 or 5 pages to explain timing and its probably the same for a NH baler also

And if you don't have an owner's manual, NH Baler OM's are cheap and have all the info you need to keep the machine adjusted properly.

Read the operators manual.
Every baler is a bit different. Unless you want to hear that big bang that cleans the needles off, READ THE BOOK. There is generally a measurement for the distance from the plunger face to the needle tips as the needles are enterning the chamber. Your book will tell you that distance.
