Can any one lead me to a source for tires? I found a military (Jeep) tire that might work for the landwheel. But it seems as if no one makes 5.50 or 6.00 / 16" tires any more. Likewise for the 4.00 / 12" tailwheel.

Thanks for all of your help. I have checked with my local farm tire dealer, he will only handle rear tractor tires. Both the Goodyear and firestone dealers (likewise my local FleetFarm and TSC) can only get a multi-rib in 6.00/16, which would work for the furrow wheel, but are 6-ply. (45 psi instead of 32) dont know if my spoked rims could take the pressure - they have some rust pits that look pretty deep after I sanblasted them. The Goodyear dealer had a 4.00/12, but it was like a boat trailer tire with square shoulders - I dont think it would track very well leaned over. None of them were able to refer me to a supplier, I just got the "we can't get those anymore" replies. I did find the 4.00/12 tire I need, the 178.00 price tag seems too steep. Can you guys supply a phone # for your suppliers? If you do not want to post them here, you can e-mail me at [email protected] I have to say that 40.00 and 20.00 are by far the best price I have heard so far.

That square sided tire won't hurt a thing. That's what I had on mine for quite a few years. And you don't need to put in 45 lbs. in the other tire like Don Wi says.

What area of the country do you live? I"m really surprised that a farm tire store won"t have what you need or at least could order them.

My local tire store has all those or can order them.

They are all available from www.millertire.com in Ohio at 800-621-1955, EXT. 4 Miller can be a bit pricey, but they do have the tires for most every old application.

Just cuz a tire says it can handle 45 PSI doesn't mean it needs and has to have 45 PSI. It'll be fine at 32 if that's what you want to run in them. It can just handle more if you so decide.

Just checked with 1 of my former suppliers, 400x12 4ply tires are 20.56 each and 600x16 6 ply are 33.58 each. He had 11 different brands of 600x16 and two different brands of 400x12 in stock. They are not hard to find just go to a farm tire store.

Miler tire has those sizes listed under implement tires. Shouldn't be hard to find them at a local shop that does ag tires though.

The rear tire shouldn't be a problem. My local tire store stocks a 4.00-12 rib implement for about $25, not a 3-rib, but a regular 4-rib implement. If you are not worried about looks, use a 225/75/R16 light truck tire for the front. About the same height as a 6.00-16.

The 4.00 X 12 should be the same size as a wheelbarrow tire. That's what I got on my plow. The 16 inch may have to buy new at TSC or tire store. I don't think there's too many used around. Maybe at a auction sale or wrecking yard.

The 4:00 X 12 would not be a wheelbarrow size tire as the wheelbarrow tire is an 8" rim, not a 12" rim. It is the size a lot of smaller boat or fold down camper trailers use. 4:00 - 4:80 same size tire, just different way of measuring
