I see there are 2 or 3 folks here who use an HR10 and wondered if there was anyone else who would speak up for it good or bad. Im looking at one and thinking very seriously about buying it but I thought Id like to run it by you all. Are there any common problems/annoyances w/ it? It seems that a used Pequea brings less than other brands. Is that b/c its really worth less or just not a recognized brand. My only exposure to Pequea is their hay rack and I think theyre *very* good.

Anyway, Id appreciate your input.

Thanx David...did you buy the rake new or used? If used how many acres were on it?

What caused you to change out the gear box bolts? Did they break/fall off?

Im no where near PA but do have a local dealer. Was told by the Pequea guy they dont sell direct...can only go thru my dealer. However I can order from him and have the parts shipped to me (vs having to pick them up at the dealer).

Bought the rake used at a consignment auction so no idea how many acres. I rake 25 ac x 4-5 cuts plus some corn stalks and straw every year. The bolts stretched and loosened up. Easy to see.

I"ve got one of their earlier HR10 rakes (serial #41 I think) and I"m well satisfied with it. The only weekness I"ve found is the 4 bolts that hold the frame to the gearbox. Replace them with grade 8 bolts and put locktite on them. Otherwise its a great rake. I think you"ll find that Pequea puts more steel in their products than any of the European manufacturers. If you"re anywhere near New Holland, PA you can buy parts right at the factory fairly reasonably.

One more thing I forgot in my original posting...I talk w/ someone at Pequea about the HR10 b/c its been superseded and theres no online docs for it0. They said the only diff was the undercarriage (wider) and thats it. The important moving bits are all the same.
