I was thinking about buying a large flex harrow with a cart and I was wondering which one you guys think is the better of the two. The McFarlane or the Martens. I was going to get eitlher a 45 or 48 ft with 12 bars. Martens says that their sections are built heavier but the specs say that the McFarlane weighs more. I need your opinions. Thanks

Years ago Martens used to build a light weight harrow that had some breakage on the tongue, but their 16 bar is much, much heavier with a double tongue and you could never break one of them. I had a McFarlane and it always broke right in front of the a-frame bolt together plates. I now have a 42 ft. Martens and it is a much better frame and the harrows are a lot heavier than my old McFarlane.

I am not that familiar with the McFarlane but the couple of farmers I know that own them have nothing but good things to say about them. As far as the Martens, I am a welder and personally have put the main frames back together where they have snapped in two on 3 of them. Personally, I am not impressed with the Martens.
