Does anyone know what year AVCO Distributing Corp purchased New Idea Farm Equipment Company?

I believe the Oppenheim/Synck families sold NI to Avco around 1945. If you need more New Idea history, I can help you out. I belong to the NI historic preservation club of Coldwater, Ohio. Hope this helps some.

Superpicker,

When did NI quit making the hand cranked corn shellers? And, did they make them for other companies?

Thanks,

I knew it was before Oct. 7th 1946 because of a Time article I had read.

I am working on a T91 Transplanter and it has "New Idea Farm Equipment Company" "Division of AVCO Distributing Corp."

I was just getting an idea of the date of the transplanter so 1945 would give me round-about date.

Thanks for your help
