We are thinking of buying a boxblade to build and reshape grass waterways. Dealers are saying to go with 10'. We were thinking 12'. Anyone have opinions?

use a 3 pt hitch turning plow with the back of the plow raised as high as it will go and still break just a little bit of ground. go one way and then turn around and go back the other and it will make you a pretty good ditch. next using a 6 or 8 foot box blade start working one side of the ditch into the shape you want it. drive around in circles going into the ditch getting a load of dirt and circling out and let the box blade spread the dirt out as you go. never pick the blade up. just stay on the same side of the ditch until its complete and the do the other side. to wide of a blade want let you dig good and a smaller one is easier to handle doing as i've described.

I suppose it depends on the size of tractor you have . My little 1755D Oly does ok with an 8' blade and I don't think it could pull a full box if it was any wider . I spin out with loaded tires ( 18.4-34 and cast centers with poweradjust rims )at times now . Been looking for a affordable ( read "cheap" ) ten foot backblade though . ...Randy
