Planter pump

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has ever run a pump from a international planter from the hydrualic remotes from a tractor. I"m pretty sure it would pump enough becuase I think my planter requires 9 GPM and the tractor does 12. I"m also not sure about how hot it would get....i know the planter has a cooler on it, but i dont know if that would be enough.

Dad ran the pump for a 5100 White off of tractor hydraulics for several years. Used a 1755 Oliver then a 2-105 White. Never had any issued. I don't think they took as much flow as IH. The White system used low air pressure compared to IH. He had an IH bean planter and used the pto pump that came with it.

I am pretty sure it requires a tractor with a closed center hydraulic system to make it work.

It is done all the time, but make sure you have enough flow to keep the planter fan running fast enough to maintain pressure when you raise the planter, or seeds will drop from the drum. I personally don't like running the planter directly from the tractor due to probable cross contamination if something fails.
