I have 4, all different makers. JD 1B New Idea IHC Hocking Valley I don't THINK that any of the tractor companies actually made them, but contracted with smaller implement makers to produce them. The IHC for example, looks like another brand (?) I have seen sold and the David Bradley sold by Sears is very much like the New Idea I have. I haven't researched the history of who made what...just observed the similarities of the ones I have seen. Whomever made the old Hocking Valley...also sold them with all sorts of names on the exact same sheller. I had to rebuild 3 of mine, the JD 1B is all original...but could use a paint job. The man I got it from, said his dad bought it in 1944. There's always several on ebay and generally have a war price affixed and of course, they expect you to drive to BF Egypt to get it. I have enough crank shellers, now to find a good cylinder sheller to run with the Super A. Lots of this stuff is sitting either rotting away in a fence row or in the back of the barn under 6 inches of dust and chicken poop, and is considered useless junk until you want to buy it..then it becomes a priceless heirloom! Go figure!
