Hi All , Just a simple question ( hopefully ) so I don't have to take all my plows apart to find out HA-HA . Are the frogs on ALL #8 plows interchangable meaning the way the frogs bolt onto the standard given compatible sizes ( 14" to 14" etc. ) ? I have a couple plows with plow chief bottoms and one plow with quick attach shares that parts aren't available for or are very expensive . Need to make them easy to get parts for . I have plenty of the quick attach shares but still need the plow chief points for the other two plows and a couple new 'boards for all of them . So I was thinking it would be easier to just get some super plow chief bottoms and bolt them on all the plows if it's possible . Thanks for any help on this . ...Randy

Hi Hugh , Leroy , George , Gerald and Dean , That's was what I needed to know ! I have a parts list from 1937 and it implied a variety of frogs were available each for their own moldboard type so I suspected that all frogs could bolt to all beams I just didn't know if there was a point in time that that might have changed . I want to keep these quick attach bottoms but would like to switch out the plow chief bottoms for super chief bottoms on the other two plows . I am still looking for landsides for these quick attach type bottoms . I bought a NOS short landside from a dealer in WI but it turned out to be the wrong part for all my plows . Anybody need a short landside part # O 2118 ? I need # o 2020 and # o 2024 I think . If I can't get good new or used parts I'll make some ( I wanted good ones for a pattern anyway ) and have square holes punched in them for modern plow bolts . Thanks for the feedback it will make my search for donor plow bottoms easier ! ...Randy

Randy: Every plow beam IH manufactured since 1930 has the same bolt pattern. Every frog they manufactured has the same bolt pattern as it applies to bolting up to the beam. Kevernland use the same bolt pattern. I have a neighbor, IH 540 semi-mount with Kevernland frogs and bottoms. Probably one of the best plowing machines I've seen lifetime.

Randy, they should bolt right up as long as you have complete bottoms. I have a 420 mounted plow with Plow Chief slats on it and another with Super Chiefs. The Little Genius will accept several different bottoms. Plow Chief parts are available, but kinda high.

Its improbable that the frogs would be the same for different plow bottoms. That's because different plow bottoms have different angles and curves and with the constant thickness moldboards and plow shares the frogs have to be different to support those different angles.

I don't know about Littl Genius plows, but I know the many AC bottoms use a different frog for each plow bottom.

The frogs would be different but the mounting holes would be the same no mater if 12", 14" or 16" and type of bottom as the bottom type would have been supplyed as needed for the ground it was going to be used in. 16" bottom could be put on 14" frame or 14" on 12" frame (Some do this for plowing contests, days)

Gerald: Yes the frogs will be different for each type moldboard, however every plow frame IH built since they bought out P&O will take any frog they manufactured since. A neighbor of mine even has Kevernland frogs and bottoms on his IH 540 semi-mount. Kevernland use the same bolt pattern on their plow beams and frogs as all IH plows since 1930.
