does anyone have any experience with a Gehl 1500 round baler? IS is good or bad and problem areas

I ran one for 15 years.

Good baler in its time. Bearings are going to start or have started to give problems as with any old machine.

It will not make as tight of bale as the newer models but thats not a big issue.

Check out the belts also, if those need to be replaced it will be more than the baler is worth.

Thats the biggest issue with old belt balers-cost of belts.

Try to find one that the belts have been replaced recently and save money down the road.

Almost forgot is it a 1500 with 4" belts or a 1500A with 6" belts?

Stay away from the 4" belted one as far as you can. They didn't work when they were new.
