JSUT BOUGHT THIS BALER IT SEEMS TO BE SOUND. I DON'T KNOWN ANYTHING ABOUT THE BALER OTHER THAN IT BALED HAY THE LAST SESON AND BEEN SITTING IN A BARN FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS, HOW OLD IS THIS BALER AND WHAT KIND OF PROBLEMS WERE COMMON WITH THIS MODEL? WHERE CAN I GET A MANUEL FOR IT ?? ANY HELP WOULD BE GOOD THANKS

I have a 241 and after fighting it all summer, starting a bale, I found the answer. I knew to start feeding at one side of the baler and move quickly to the other, but I found I need to approach the windrow at a sharp angle to almost feed to whole width at once. Soon as I did this I had no more trouble.

Just check all the bearings as if one goes out it can and will heat up and possiby start a fire.

You can get a manual here at YT, Binder Books or IH dealers. They were built from the late 70's until mid 80's. They are good dependable machines, but do not roll as tight a roll as the newer balers. Some folks have trouble starting a bale with them. I have ran a 2400 and 241 since 1980 and had no problems with them other than normal wear and tear.
