Hesston 4570 baler

I am looking at a Hesston 4570. Looks good owner wants about $4000 but may negoitate a bit. What years were they made? any particular weakness? What should they sell for?

$4000.00 for that baler sounds very reasonable. I have a Hesston 4550 that I paid $5000.00 for 3 years ago. It was used but practically new..... .....had been used very little. I've owned just about every make of (small)baler there is. The Hesston beats all the rest hands down. My only objection to mine is the pick-up attachment needs to be wider! It's a hay eating machine. I bale about 6-8000 bales a year with mine and it's not missed a bale in two years. (Now I've probably jinxed myself). I'd love to find a 4570 or a 4590. I bale lots of high moisture hay (with preservative) and use a 170 pound knot strength plastic twine. The bales weigh 80-95 pounds coming out of the baler and dump into a bale accumulator. I use a bale grabber to load and unload. My wife and I can bale 6-800 bales a day and if everything goes right never touch a bale.

I have a 4590 which is the same thing but larger pick-up and more plunger strokes per minute. They have been making that series for at least 15 years now as far as I know. The knotters have been changed a few times. The new generation of knotters are excellent. If the worm gear drive assembly is enclosed in a casting then those are the new ones. The Raspey knotters they had on the older ones were not anything to brag about.
