After planting 4 acres of rye and vetch, I sat by and watched the rain work it over real good before I could get it covered. They were calling for light showers and it poured for 3 hours, pooling it all up. So I let the fields dry for a few days and disked it in and it rained again. To my amazement, it didnt rot and is up about a 8" now, so much for my vision of broadcast and disked in seed looking like it was drilled in, never trust the weatherman.

Im starting to see alot of JD drills in the 100 to 300 dollar range. Makes me wonder what all the model numbers mean and which one might be better than the other. Ive given up on finding any kind of drill with double openers with press wheels for cheap.

Can anyone shed some light on what the differences are on the models below, which ones might be a better, newer, more reliable or more desireable? Are there other JD models or other makes along the same lines that I didn't list that are desireable units that I should be looking for?

I cant help but feel that if it were drilled in, I would have had better growth and fuller fields, even with all that rain. Really P----d me off.

Thank You,

I didn't recognize the models SD or FB2 but the reat will do your sowing. I'll add models B and DR to your list. After that for JD's would be the 8000 series drills. Tx Jim
