A friend has a Ford bailer with a Wisconsin motor. Serial # 2406, Model # 1471. Does any one have any idea what year it is or when they started/stopped making this bailer?

I know that IH stopped making self powered balers in 1957 and started offering a PTO kit with the overrunning clutch in 1960. The reason I know this is we had one with the V twin Wisconsin air cooled engine. IH touted that by going to the PTO drive would save us fuel because we didn't have to run two engines. The only problem was the travel rate of the tractor IH H model when you had a 540 RPM PTO speed. Learned real fast how to kick it into neutral with a heavy windrow. LarryT

i believe if you look at the numbers they have a dash betwen them such as 14-71. .Then it is a older ford or dearborn from the 40-50s. My guess is a fifties whithout getting my sales book out.Might even have gone into the 60s. but this is just a best guess to start you on the way to fining out. Hope it helps.

Ford never made bailers. They did make balers.
