Can someone tell me why my 25V sickle mower will not sit level when I unbolt from the tractor. This makes it a little hard to hook up.
It tilts towards the cutter bar side. Second has anyone ever seen the lift jack option
for this mower so you don"t a hyd.jack to lift it.?? thank you all

Tom

I block mine up when I remove it. I'm thinking of making a cradle from 4x4's this winter so it will just sit in it when unhooked. I also unbolted the swiveling hitch and it goes right on to the three point hitch. I'm also thinking of putting one or two suitcase weights on the opposite side of the cutterbar.

Thanks for the replies. I made a jack from an old bumper jack but I messed up a locking spring in the jack any way it looked good mounted for a while.

Can't find one in the 25V manual but the 27V does list one as "special". Looks to me like a modified bumper jack from the 50 - 60 cars. On my 27V I welded a Bull Dog jack bracket to the mount plate about 1/2 way between the cutter bar side of the frame and the PTO shaft. Use a top wind jack. Then again I had to make my own mount bracket for the mower. See if the pics from the manual come out. If don't come thru send me an email and will send them that way.

I always shim mine up with blocks while it is still hooked up to tractor then unhook.

I would have to say the lift assist spring is your culprit causing that. When you unbolt the drawbar the spring will retract since there is no longer any resistance. I used to use our 8n with a front end loader to pick it up. Made it a whole lot easier to hook up and unhook.
