How to disassemble new holland cylinder

I bought a seal kit for nh499 haybine but i can"t figure how the cylinder comes apart. I included an image of the parts page (as long as i did it right) i removed the three 1/4" bolts in the end cap #3 but i still couldn"t twist it or pull it out. I"m now thinking snap ring #5 is holding it but can"t find a way to get to it. if someone knows how to do this please let me know.

Looks an awful like my lift cylinder on my nh hydra-swing but mine has a set screw through the cylinder holding #7 along with the snap ring. Look close, it is fairly small and can be hidden by grime.

Old is right,just did 2 on my field cult.,pound #7 gland further into the tube,then snap ring is easy to get out,Bob.

Yep #5 is holding it. You have to push #7 in a little bit then pull #5 out and then it will come apart. They can be a real pain but its some thing you should be able to do. BTDT on the cylinders on my 850 baler

FYI to all- JD 148 loader cylinders are the same way. Printouts are a helpful asset- many dealers provide them now. I put them in plastic sleeves from office supply stores and save them for reference. More than likely to keep this old stuff long enough to need them again.
