The backs of the moldboards on this two bottom plow have "HS 446 FC" steciled on the backs. There is also a tag with "BA10017A" stamped on it. What does this mean? I am trying to determine if this is a 2-14 plow or a 2-16. It's a 16" frame according to the stenciling on the frame.

Bill, According to JD Parts Catalog PC1308 a HS446FC is a right hand, full cut (FC), high speed (HS), 16" (405mm) bottom, that uses moldboard #A20702 as a replacement. It takes 4-bolt throw away shares. That moldboard is available from JD at $170.50 each. It can use (among others) share #A51508 available from JD at $45.38 each. Shins, landsides and other replacement parts may also be available from JD and/or third party suppliers.

The stenciling on the frame of mine says "14/16" and as DP said it can be either depending on how it"s put together. The "HS" in the part number typically means "high speed". I have the Parts Catalog PC 158 Plow Bottoms and there are no numbers with the exact combinations of what you posted. That may mean that the bottoms were changed to a later design than what was "original" for the 44H.

Standing behind the plow, look down at the standards. You will see each standard has a offset to it. If the offsets bring the plow bottoms closer together, its a 2X14's, If they get wider its a 2X16's.

I looked at the plow this morning. Based on your information, it is 2x16's.I am still trying to decipher the stenciled numbers.
