I have an old 5-foot Ford rotary mower. The bearings on the output shaft went bad, which caused the bevel gear on the input shaft to be ruined. The plate with the model number has come off, but the gearbox has a round base with six bolts and a 5 3/4 spacing between the centers of bolts on opposite sides. From this sketchy information can anyone tell what mower it might be and if the gear I need would be available anywhere? Any help would be appreciated./bush

Sounds like a model 909. I just cut one up for scrap last week, got tired of mowing around it. Deck was beat up on it but it worked good with no box noise. It didn't look good so I couldn't give it away, well I take that back, I gave the PTO shaft to a guy at work. Sorry.

Mr. Crum:
What happened to the gearbox on the one you cut up? Is it still around somewhere?

Sorry I sent the box to the scrapper also. I have so much stuff stored in my polebarn as it is, that I have stuff that should be under shelter that is sitting out in the weather.

I may have bought that model at auction this summer. Would it be a Dearborn? I'll look at mine tomorrow, where would the plate have been? Looks like mine was repainted, so won't see it right away....

It may have been a Dearborn. It is an older one and I couldn't remember for sure whether Ford or Dearborn. The plate that had the model number was riveted to the brace that extends down from the top link to the lift arm pin.
