bush hog won't cut

I have a 1983 Bush Hog 42" 3 pt hitch mower. It has always worked good, but the old blades were really beat up. I had new blades put on and now IT WON'T CUT AT ALL ! It turns okay, the new blades swing very freely, but it won't cut anything. What on earth could be wrong ????

They may not be on wrong. They may have given you the wrong rotation blades.

Is it shear pin protected, and sheared? Is the slip clutch slipping? If these are not the problems then maybe the incorrect blades were installed, ones that are not sharp in the rotation direction.

sounds like you put them on upside down. note the direction of the blades when the pto is engaged and look to see if the sharp edge is facing into the grass. ease to do on lawn mowers too.
