disk chisel

I have a IH 806 and a Case 1030 ( each right around 100HP). How big of a disc chisel could they handle. Are the only trailer or does someone make a mounted unit?

I pull a 8-shank mounted chisel behind my 826 (92hp). Like Don, I've never seen a mounted disk chisel. My 826 can barely handle the one I have (which is A JD Model 100 and was built with 11 chanks and with depth wheels. I like the mounted equipment because it gives the tracter the extra weight for good traction.

I've seen 3 pt. rippers, but never a mounted disc chisel. It'd be way too heavy in my opinion.

A lot depends on your soils. In our heavy clay, we pull 4-16's with our Oliver 1855 that puts out 105 on the PTO, and we can handle a 7 shank disc chisel. Even that at times can be a little much.

Most other guys on here can pull a 6 bottom plow with the same tractor, and can probably handle atleast a 9 shank. The best thing to do, would be find a dealer that rents them and ask what the other guys ussually pull them with, and then rent one.

We always just rent one, ussually it's a Brillion Soil Comander. Sometimes it a Sunflower unit. Same dealer sells both.
