Vermeer 605C question

I have a 605C baler I am have'n problems with. I know it is old but it has always done good by me, I only roll a little over 100 bales a year so slow ain't hurting me too bad. Here's the deal, it keeps "busting" the little bushings that hold the cogs on the shafts. I have had this baler for 2 years, and another one like it for 6, and never had this happen before. It has busted 4 this summer. Has not broke a new one, I have not replaced the same one two times. I have taken chains off and turned shafts by hand and can not find where it is getting in a bind. It has broke the two on the shaft coming off the the gear box, out side one first and in side one was the last. I have had to replace 2 on the right side, the ones that turn the rollers on the bottom. What could be causing this? One broke at start up after pulling a clog out of the throat, the rest was when I was running. Could it be that they are just old and staring to go out at the same time? They are only $15 and I have gotten good at chang'n them but this is getting old.

If your sprockets are in pretty good shape that will work. goodl luck. When you tighten the three bolts loosley tighten all three, then start over in sequence tighten a little more keep going till you get them all tight. that will keep the taper lock straight in the bushing.

Yeah, didn't take long to learn that. They ain't too big and it don't take much to get one a little too tight!

The sprockets seem to be in good shape. They are a little worn but still fit the chain good.

I am not expert, but cheak and see if you have pin slack in your chain, if so, the chain pitch is longer than the sprocket pitch, it will ride high on the sprocket. It will jump teeth on the sprocket and cause it to break the bushing. Is it a qd or taper lock bushing? hope this helps.

It is a taperd busing the cog fits over and has 3 bolts that sung it all together. Several of the chains are geting pretty loose, take'n a few links out of all them was on the list of things to do this winter.
