Finally got a round baler, Vermeer 504I. Seems like it is going to be a good one.

Did have a few issues with twine falling off of the ends of the bale. Not sure if it was my technique or if the twine arms need adjusting. Any advice & pointers are appreciated.

i have trouble with my super j baler if i dont back up stright and pull away stright . sides seem to pull string off. i make my wind rows as wide as the pick up and have nice shaped bales.also never had cows refuse to eat a bale because it was shaped wrong.

Yes if your 604J bale has the bale restrictors in it now and you remove them you will make a better looking bale in dry hay. Bale restrictors are used for high moisture hay and will also reduce the HP need to operate the baler. As mentioned before fill the corners of the bale and the center of the bale will take care of it self.

My bales have looked like that. What you need to do is hug the windrow closer to put more hay on the sides. Then just before the bale is full put hay on both sides and tie a little farther in if you have hydralic tie. You will make good bales.

Check and see if the bale restrictors are still in the baler. You only need them if you a doing silage baling. It will make a smother bale on the sides if you bale dry hay with the bale restrictors removed. Send me an email and I can send you a service and tips manual that dealers get.

Twine falling off the ends is an issue. If you could manually move the twine arms back a little for a couple of turns and then move the twine arms to the end to cut off the twine might help.
