Homemade landslide for plow.

Since I've had no luck finding the furrow wheel for my IH 531 plow's it has been suggested to use a plow point and fashion a long landslide from it.
Has anyone done this? Do you drill new holes for mounting in the plow bottom or can the plow point be drilled?

I would use a piece of flat bar mild steel of the measurement you need. It will be easy to shape and drill holes. Then use a good DC stick welder and hardsurfacing electrodes to put a hard surface layer on the bottom edge, and a little bit of the outside edge. Will last almost forever. I bought an OEM landside and hard surfaced it with Lincoln electrodes to prevent wear. Tom

Thanks for the quick reply. Mild steel would be much easier to work with. We have a DC welder at work so I'd just have to buy a few hard facing rods.
I'm going to look at my Dad's AC plows to get some idea of the general shape then go from there.
