Indiana Hay decision

It's been 31 days since last cut, 90% alfalfa field 10% grass.

Looks to be a warm window this week.

Can I cut? Field was planted in spring of 04.

I'm in North central Indiana(W Laf).

Field is real nice(I don't want to hurt it)

I would NOT cut it this time of year. You run the risk of damaging the health of the plants and hurting the eventual yield and longevity of the stand. Alfalfa needs to have a "window of opportunity" to build up sufficient root reserves in order to survive the winter. In our part of the country that "window" is Sept. 15-Nov 1. It is a difficult thing to do, but I'd sure advise against cutting it.
