OLD KEMP CHIPPER ,SHREDDER FOR A PTO INFO NEEDED

I HAVE AN OLD KEMP CHIPPER THAT CAN HOOK UP TO MY FORD 8N. THE DRIVE SHAFT ON THE CHIPPER IS TOO LONG I THINK. DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OR DIRECTIONS OR BETTER YET KNOW WHERE I CAN BUY A MANUAL FOR IT? IF I HOOK TO THE PTO THEN IT WILL NOT REACH THE TWO LIFT ARMS WITHOUT IT BEING TILTED. DO I HAVE TO REMOVE THE LIFT ARMS TO RUN THE CHIPPER AND ONLY HOOK IT TO THE STABILIZER ARMS AND THE ADJUSTABLE STAY STRAPS? OR DO I HAVE TO INVEST IN SHORTER DRIVE SHAFT? I REALLY NEED THIS INFORMATION BEFORE I RUN THE CHIPPER. ANY INFORMATION WILL HELP. THANKS, VICKI

Is your 8n equiped with an over run cluth on the pto? If so removit when useing the chiper.I cut the shaft on a spreder for my 8n with orc and later or got a 5000 ford tractor with live pto and had to replace the spreder shaft as it was now to short for the 5000 ford.

The driveshaft is hollow and easy to saw. I will keep looking for my manual and send you a copy if I can find it.

I have a Kemp chipper that works off of a PTO. Probably have a manual somewhere but I have not fount it yet. As I recall the manual is about as crude as the chipper. The answer to your problem is to measure the distance between chipper drive and PTO in all positions. Take a hacksaw and saw the driveshaft off about 1/2 inch shorter than the shortest distance. Make sure the driveshaft is slid in all the way when you measure the cut off point. Take an equal amount off of each end of the drive shaft on the ends where they slide together. The chipper is alright for grinding leaves and light stuff thru the top but is a joke for chipping limbs.

SORRY TO HEAR THAT IT MIGHT NOT WORK WELL FOR A CHIPPER. THIS ONE HAS 6 ROWS WITH 7 BLADES IN EACH ROW. EACH BLADE IS 1/4"THICK AND ABOUT 5" LONG. THEY ARE ALSO IN A TWISTED LIKE SHAPE. I DO HOPE THIS ONE WORKS. THANKS FOR YOUR INFORMATION IT HELPS ALOT.. VICKI
