I got her goin. I took the needles off my NH 68 and put them on the 269. The part numbers were one number off, but they looked to be identicle other than I think the needles from the 68 might be just a tad longer.

The timing chain was very loose and I found that the tension roller was almost ready to fall off. I also found were the previouse owner started making all sorts of adjustments when he couldn't get it to time.

After resetting everything, adjusting the needles and timing the baler it runs perfect. Well worth the $100 and a little tinkering.

Good job!

I can't tell you how much stuff I've picked up for cheap over the years where had the previous owner had been "this close" to fixing a problem before they gave up. Or they were in the wrong ballpark entirely.

For $100, after the first 20 bales the machine has paid for itself. May you get another 20 years out of it!
