I was baling with my 224 john deere square baler.
The Shear Pin broke but it also broke the brake drum on the knotter wheel. What could have caused this?

crisok,if you are refering to the needle lift shear pin,it's a brass pin with cotter key hole in each end. It's been to long since I was a JD parts man to remember part #. Tx Jim

I can't get to my manual or my baler at the moment but is it possible that someone might have put a bolt in there that was a little tougher than the specs suggest? Check out the bolt and your manual and see if this is the case.

Don't have a manual on this machine what kind of bolt does it suggest you put in this machine?

Probably a special "shear bolt" with a specific DEERE part number.
