NH 331 ratchet gear

i'm looking for help in replacing the ratchet gear on my NH 331 manure spreader. I have it on part way but cannot get it past the keyhole any suggestions?

I have a JD spreader that is basicly the same set up. In order to get that gear on I had to use sand paper and really clean the shaft up. I also ran sand paper through the hole in the gear and with a little oil it went right on. I did this two years ago and is still working fine today. You more than likely have a burr right behind the key hole in the shaft...I did
