HELP - I really screw up and broke the flywheel hub on my Ford 532 baler today. Rest of baler is in great condition. Anyone know if these are still available from NH??? Anyone know of parts balers??? Parts Manual shows these fit all of the 532s, 542s, and a model 14-250.

Had 15 acres of 2nd crop down when this happened, but hooked to my friend's NH275

Just checked. Current price is $242.70 and the local dealer will have to order it in, which is to be expected. Given that the previous owner paid over $300 for a new RH Knotter Cam Gear just before I bought the baler, the $242.70 isn't too bad.

Still looking for a used hub for the 532. Anyone have any contact location for a salvage yard which might have one?

Thanks much everyone. From the replies, it seems like this is a weak link. What usually causes them to break? Is it mainly an issue of the short tongue/ 2-universal shaft, the long tongue 3-universal shaft, or both?

My situation was pure carelessness! I just picked up the baler this summer and have only used it on 3 fields. I had it hitched behind my Expedition taking it to a hayfield about 6 miles away. The front PTO support tilted forward enough that the front section of the PTO shaft slipped off of the rear, the rear dropped down, hit the pavement, caught for a minute, and ended up bouncing back up and over the tongue so it didn't catch the pavement again. Everything looked OK until I had baled a few bales and then the flywheel came flying off.

I pull the NH 477 Haybine this way and never had an issue with the PTO shaft. Also pull the old 250 Ford baler, but it has the short tongue and 2-universal PTO.

What's the url for the Ford/NH site to check part numbers? I use the John Deere site frequently, but haven't been able to google the NH site.

Thanks again everyone.

newholland is at newholland.com/na Just look in the parts section of the site. It'll give you numbers but not prices.

I bought a brand new one last year from our NH
dealer. I paid 150 dollars for it.

Sounds like you have a better dealer than I do! Mabey it was $240 not $420? Its been at least two years ago and I can't remember if I greased the baler this morning or not.

Our dealer ain't nothing spectacular, but was able to get that hub. I didn't even think there was a chance of getting one, but I did.

I priced one a couple of years ago from new holland. The parts man said $420 how many do you want? I found a used one for $50. I've had to buy three of them, always been able to find a used one. There were a lot of ford balers in NW Arkansas. There are several good salvage yards in SW MO that may have one if I haven't bought them all.
