JD 1219 repair info needed

The arm that runs the sickle broke. I have a new one to put on, but I'm wondering about the alignment. Is there any kind of aligning marks, or do I just have to try to get it back in the same position I remove it from? Any help appreciated.

Just turn the shaft so the arm is to the end of the stroke then see if it lines up with the end of the knife with the knife at one end of the travel or the other. It really should be pretty simple. We did our 1219 after second cutting. Check the pin also for being loose in the head of the knife bar and wear on the pin or loose in the new arm if so replace it the slop will ultimately break the knife. The pin is $20.00 the knife $220.00 your choice.Later will be both now it's $240.00 plus the down time.

Look inside the splined hole of the new arm and see if there's one wider spline. Been so long I can't remember but I think there is. I had to remove one from a 1217 to get the wobble box off and wasn't a big problem. I could be wrong too. Been close to 10 years since I had that conditioner.
