Please disregard my previous post. Can't delete it seems, so posting again with the web site address.

I have what appears to be a decent MF41 Dynabalance mower, but I can"t get the belt pulleys to align. Thus, the belt wears quickly. I have tried adjusting everthing, but nothing helps it. I have the owners manual, but no help. I don"t see where this unit was ever broken or welded on. I have pictures at the web site listed. You can email me at [email protected]. Thanks for any help. Gary

if u can get the pto and the pully down more toward the ground that will help alot? it needs to be set with your pto on the tractor. the way it looks in the pics, it needs to go down in the front to be set with the tractor. it should adjust where the shiney nut is. the washer has an ovel groove around it to adjust this. it should just turn.

Gary, I have two of those and have mowed more than I can remember with them. I agree with the others, something is bent/mis-aligned. To me, and FWIW, pic 14 shows that the frame with the pto shaft is out of shape. The pto shaft in front of the drive pulley should be horizontal/parallel with the ground when adjusted to the mowing height,i.e. 19 1/2 to 20 inches at the 3ph mounting pins(manual spec). Notice the nut with the shiny threads near the middle of the pic? The "loop shaped" piece of flat steel "appears" to be slanted aft(towards the rear bottom). Loosen that shiny threaded nut and try to pry the frame back to the vertical position and tighten the shiny nut with the large, rusty colored washer. I"ve never had mine loose so I can"t say how it got that way. If that doesn"t work try to figure out what you can loosen to make the pto shaft move to the horizontal position. It doesn"t "appear" that your Dynabalance head is bent, just the frame that holds the pto drive shaft. Clear as mud? As CENTAUR said, "Best Wishes". IF it was bent there "should" be some stress marks near the bend. I hope it works out, they are a fine mower...before the bushings in the head wear out;-)

To quote CENTAUR, I know nothing about this mower or any other sickle. But meanwhile, Im looking at your pictures a bit differently. Pictures 2 and 7 intrigue me. The belt looks light weight to me for one thing as it doesnt look as though it fills the pulleys. Im thinking your drive belt is under sized to properly carry the work load placed upon it. I also noticed the top idler pulley in your pictures is out of alignment (in to far). May need to use a longer bolt holding it in place with a couple/three spacers (washers) between the pulley and frame.
Pictures 8, 9 and 14 puzzle me. To me it appears something is missing between the pieces the loose nut and bolt seems to be there to hold together. Could be a heavy disc bored off center for a combination horizontal and/or vertical adjustment. I reserve the idea the frame is twisted, in that the outer frame part looks square in itself to me. However, my not clearly seeing the outer frames attachment to the PTOs drive shaft housing leaves room for additional question of final alignment. Here I may have missed this pictured attachment. Also note, Drive belts do not always run on a single plain. Look for instance the many ways and means and turns belts take delivering their power on fertilizer spreaders, combines, late model Hesston mower conditioners, as well some other belt driven equipment. Ive seen belts changing direction in dizzying turns going doubly reversed directions any number of times as engineered wonders and work for more than one season under the most chemically and dirty conditions. An added observation, I remember belting up to the buzz saw, the hammer mill with a totally reversed (twisted belt). Hope this has helped.

I know nothing about this mower or any other sickle. But I have spent some time looking over your pics.It appears to me that the steel frame is twisted. The steel part in the center of the Pic #3 appears to be twisted.# 4 shows the casting which carries the driver pully which is mounted on the steel frame to be badly out of line due to what I THINK to be a twisted frame.May have happened when it was backed into something solid.# 13&16 pics also seem to back up my theory. The castings could also be mallable. If you have access to (Service station type lift to hold one in the front of the frame and a bottle jack to twist it back to where it was.It is hard to make up my mind what I would do.I know I am sticking my neck way out here.BEST WISHES,CENTAUR

This is a little late in coming, but I want to thank everyone who helped me with this issue. I ended up selling the mower this week to a person that used to sell farm equipment and he said he was not scared of it. Thanks again...Gary
