Getting a Semi Full of small squares.
Seller said he gets 620 on a Van type trailer(The box trailers, 53 feet)

Barn is 54 feet long, 1 door and 12 foot high(so van cannot back in). Bales obviously have to go in the back of the barn.

6 unloaders.

2 hours? 2 1/2?

I don't want to go there. Used to unload 100 lb bags off the floor of tralers . I feel for you .

I ship using 53ft van trailers 102 " wide and end up alwasy with 540 bales. Must be done in 2 1/2 hrs or gets extra fee added on. Has always worked for us. The truck is always scheduled for a back haul usually thats why we have to put a time on it. Some haulers WILL not go of paved roads either,so you might want to be sure your trucker will back up to your door. Alot of them make you meet them in a large lot and throw into pickups/trailers to get empty.

627. Got done in 1 3/4 hours. First 30 minutes just 2 of us(Truck was 1/2 hour early). Then 2 more showed up, then 15 mintues later 2 more and then 15 minute later 2 more.

Bales were roughly 45 lbs, so a littel smaller than I am used to.

I run the finance department for a 1000 truck company. They knew they were going on gravel...

I am a little tuckered today though....

How can you get 620 bales on a 53' trailer? I have a 48' trailer, and 300 is a good load. Unless they are the little bales that people make by running a big square through a Bale-Bandit. If thats the case I'd look into renting a forklift.

To fully appreciate this job, make sure it�s 95-100 degrees outside, the bales weigh 75+ lbs each, no elevators, and the unloaders have never done this before.

Even if bales are lighter, elevators will save you alot of time and sore backs. Those must be real small bales if 620 will fit in that trailer! I think we used to get around 450 on open semi trailer stacked 7 high.

Something like that. Could go faster if everyone hustles a bit. Could go a lot longer if everyone drags their feet. I like the elevator suggestion if you have one...

Not sure how long, but you can save yourself a lot of time if you can get hold of at least two skeleton elevators, the kind with no wheels or support frame. Two twenty foot or so, end to end on sawhorses, will carry the hay to the back of the barn, and once the barn starts filling up, one can be laid right on the trailer floor, to bring the bales to the door. We have loaded a trailer in the field that way, from kicker racks, using one elevator with a generator for power. We put one end of the elevator on a flat hay rack and kept pulling it out further as the trailer was loaded. It was a shorter trailer, and took about 500 bales. I don't remember how many people, five or six,but it took a couple or three hours. I think unloading into a barn would go faster, as there is more room to stack, and you won't be tripping over each other.
