Corn shock business is booming here, so much that I'm getting pretty tired of my Grandfathers corn knife. Anyone ever cut stalks with a sickle mower? Got a good 1 owner NH 451 if stalks won't break sections out quicker than I can replace? Thanks for your help, Stephen

1000's of bales of cornstalks baled here last year due to drought. All cut with a rotary mower(brush hog). No sections to replace and works GREAT. Tx Jim

Your sickle bar mower will cut cornstalks with no problem . You say your back feels better already? It won't tomorrow night, after picking up all that corn that is laying FLAT on the ground !!!!

don't try to cut it to low. if you have to, add a wheel under the end of your blade and rasie the shoe as high as you can. some stalks are so big in diameter that they want fit in the space between the guards and that can give you a fit.

SHOUld be no problem - i Have done c orns stubble field to increase stover quantity a few years ago as an experiment - i found it worked a little better going at an angle to the rows - but would work either way
