I have a 2 bottom trail type plow that I take to shows. The moldboards are all shined up after I plowed with it. I want to keep them shined, but would rather not use grease or oil on them for show time, but need something that will keep rain from rusting them. Would polyurethane work for this? I'd rather not use graphine or black paint...just want them to look shiny. You have any ideas on what to use?

We just use whatever paint we have left over, house paint, out door paint, half used spray cans, etc. It keeps this from going to land fills and wears off in one round. Slickest thing we've ever done.

i use silicone spray. once it dries it will not be sticky and it gives real good protection to bare metal. i use it on the end of my tractor axles that i show. i don"t know what sun light would do to poly spray over a period of time. you don"t have to worry about runs with silicone spray.

I would think a spray bomb of clear coat would work just fine. We always just use whatever color we have on hand, but clear shouldn't be a problem. I'll even give it a try next time I have it out. We've got a few 1/2 cans of clear in the shop I think...

I would use clear lacquer but clean them first with lacquer thinner

Well, knowing polyurethane protects wood and shines up nice, give it a try on a spare shiny piece of metal, or on just a corner of the moldboard to see how if it works. Dont spray too much on at once, use several coats as it will run easy.
