Do the elevators on later model pickers collapse down for storage on transport. Also is there a way to swing the hitch in. I am going to try and get one with my gooseneck and want to narrow it up as much as possible. It is a Model H320/Oliver 73H.

Oliver 73 picker the elevator does NOT fold nown or come off without tearing the whole picker apart, multiple days work and the hitch does swing for adjusting for storage or for different tractor settings But you will not haul it on a 8 foot or even an 8 1/2 foot wide trailer as the wheels are too wide. Only way possible is if at both ends of trip you would have some way to hoist it up and set it on the axle. They do have good road speed bearings in the wheels so best way is narrow the toung as best as you can, and have a hitch made on the left side of the truck and pull it. When I sold mine they were going to tow it for 150 - 175 mile home. Is it the 40" or the 30" version? the 30" would be easier to tow than the 40" that mine was.

The picker is about 500 miles away from here so pulling it may be out of the question. Some one had told me that the elevators "break" in half some where toward the bottom and then it folds forward. As long as the hitch slides in it will make it easier. I can deal with the height more than width. I figured that I'll take the wheels off and possibly the crop divider sheild on the right side and go. Thanks

as leroy said you need to pick it up back the trailer under it and block it up under the axle. it will hang over both sides and the elevator will lower down some but not a lot. raise the tongue up and the elevator will be low enough to haul on a trailer.

On my New Idea 324 picker it was just a matter of removing the 2 saddle clamps that held the elevator pivots in place and removing the chain. This is definitely a 2 person operation and we used a loader to support and lower the end of elevator to the ground when we removed the support cable. After it was on the ground the 2 clamps and chain came right off and we loaded the elevator. I imagine most pickers are set up the same way. Hope this helps.
