JD 24T baler and kicker

Well folks, I"ve asked this question before and gotten some help, but I"m still having problems. The pan style kicker drops the bale in front of the wagon going downhill! The wagon just can"t get under it in time. I"ve tried faster/slower RPM"s and I"ve shortened the drawbar by 2'(the wagon is now within 8" of the kicker frame). So, somebody must have had this problem. I"ve got some big hills but I know there"s bigger out there! Could the "teeth" on the kicker pan be worn down? Thanks for your help.

Thank all of you so much! They were all good things to check, some I"ve done.( the wagon is about 6-8" from the thrower) Yes, sometimes the bales sail just as nice, other times they flip around, it"s a mechanical kicker. I doubt anybodies coming back to this( was too busy to check the site sooner) but thanks again!

Does the bale tumble when it's thrown? It should sail pretty level, otherwise you need to adjust the kicker for the length of the bale. A user's manual would help with that (available from JD Dealer).

Are you using the mechanical #2 or the hydraulic #30 thrower?

It's been awhile since I had a 24t but seems like it has a slip clutch in the baler right where the pto enters the baler, it could be slipping when the baler goes to throw,you can buy new discs for it or try tightening it up some, also if the bale is isn't being thrown at the right time, too far forward on the pan when it throws, it'll tend to go higher instead of further. 8 feet from the thrower to the wagon seems a little far, but I would have to measure mine to be sure, I got mine so the thrower cage misses the wagon by about a foot or so when I make a turn. Hope this helps.
