What is your favorite tractor to pull a NH balewagon with? I started using a JD 2640 but can't see the bales good for the big fenders now using a Ford 3910 and it works great and small enough to maneuver around but the drawbar has to be in the flipped up side and the pto will hit the drawbar if not careful going over a hump or through a ditch, what is your favorite tractor?

I do not own a balewagon YET, but my research has led me to believe that a low gear ratio reverse is very important.

I planned to buy one this year, but glad I didn"t because I don"t have any hay to bale.

Truthfully if you ever go to a selfpropelled model, you'd have a hard time going back, but since we're talking pull types. I had a 4240 on our 1037 with the incab controls. That was a nice set up that could really stack bales. When the bales got thin and with the powershift I could be running along in 6th gear easy. Extra power is nice when you're placing stacks together so you can get them nice and tight.
